Gigguk (or Garnt Maneetapho, if you want to go there) from The Anime Zone is a British-Thai AniTuber who was previously most known for doing "Fast paced satirical anime reviews in a British accent". He is also known for being the creator of EvAbridged, which is a satirical parody of the Rebuild of Evangelion films. He was also one of the founding members of the currently defunct podcast known as PodTaku, alongside Holden from HoldenReviews, Arkada from Glass Reflection and Jeanne from Anime Appraisal.
About[edit | edit source]
Gigguk has been in the anime community since sometime around 2006. But he didn't officially start making YouTube videos until 2008 as a way to procrastinate from revising for a math exam. At some point, an unknown user had eventually hacked into his account and deleted all of his old videos. Gigguk then managed to re-upload his videos during 2011 as well as making new anime reviews for his channel.
Between 2014 and 2015, Gigguk rarely made any new videos since he already had a full-time job at the BBC (So he was on hiatus for about 2 years). And on May 5th, 2016, he had announced that he quit his original full-time job at the BBC and made his official return to YouTube after a series of consistent uploads, with his intent to substantially grow the channel by the end of the year.
His channel got to 1 million subscribers in December of 2017 and later to 2 million in November of 2019.
Gigguk officially moved to Japan in October of 2019 with Sydsnap, his girlfriend of 6 years and current fiancée.
